Dr. Ramanathan V.

Dr. V. Ramanathan is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi. He is a physical chemist, trained in laser spectroscopy, Raman microscopy and computational chemistry. After his PhD for IIT Kanpur, he has had postdoctoral experience in Seoul (South Korea), Basel (Switzerland) and Stuttgart (Germany). His current research is focused on surface enhanced Raman scattering and applying Raman imaging in biology and medicine. His other academic interests include the history of science in ancient, medieval India and theoretical aspects of Carnatic classical music. He is a Fulbright scholar and was a member of the national core committee of INYAS, a body of INSA.
